DIE DIE BE is the music and performance project of Liliane Bürli and Bujar Berisha. For live performances, they are joined by Joel Michel on synthesizers.
Synthesizers, drums, three voices and visuals combine with costumes and make-up to form a continuous performance. There are no pauses between the songs: one piece flows into the next, sounds, rhythms and images change their function, and instruments change hands. The performance develops as a coherent dramatic arc rather than a sequence of separate songs.
The work of DIE DIE BE revolves around the human being between body and mind, materiality and spirituality, conformity and resistance. Consumption, labour, self-exploitation, migration, memory and relationships emerge as contradictory states that overlap in music, text and image.
DIE DIE BE was founded in Lucerne in 2018 by Liliane Bürli and Bujar Berisha. From the figures Mater and Spirit, an ongoing body of work developed across music, film, photography, text and performance. Releases, books, videos, concerts and a tour through Kosovo form an expanding musical logbook and shared archive of work.
The current live show rearranges and transforms this material: direct, physical, artificial and vulnerable at the same time.
